I’ve known Rachel and her family for a long time and it was exciting to be able to capture her senior photography. Rachel is always smiling so I had no doubt I would get a lot of favorites. What I didn’t expect is how much variation and personality we would be able to incorporate into her one hour session. Although she didn’t have any specific requests, we were able to get both urban and nature locations all in one night!
Rachel had 3 different outfits she wanted to incorporate into her portraits. Her Maconaquah athletic letterman jacket represents 4 years of hard work lettering in Varsity cross country, tennis, and track. We chose “Garden Alley” - an urban alley in Kokomo’s “Walk of Excellence” right off the Courthouse square. Lined with red flowers and hostas, this brick paved alley was such a nice casual backdrop.
Next we headed down to the Riverwalk bridge at Wildcat Creek. We picked a hot day and Rachel was eager to change into her casual blue tank top and jeans. I love the tranquil vibe that the city walkway provided - with its golden perennial grass and white hydrangeas.
We stumbled across another perfect spot for a warm summer look - the splash pad at Al Berryman Memorial Park. Kids and adults were splashing in the water as we took a few fun shots against the floral mural.
We ended our session at Foster Park as the sun was setting. The sunlight coming through the trees created golden bokeh and the “glow” that I love. We had a great time exploring Downtown Kokomo for Rachel’s Senior Photography Session.
